Corporal Noble won this honour along with Sergeant Major Daniels VC, for advancing in face of a very heavy machine gun fire, and cutting wire entanglements at Neuve Chapelle, 12th March 1915. Both men were soon wounded, Corporal Noble having unfortunately died of his wounds.
