Lieutenant Commander Nasmith won this honour for bravely taking his ship into the Sea of Marmara (Dardanelles) in face of great danger, and for torpedoing eight Turkish vessels. When returning he had passed through the danger zone, but turned back again and at even greater peril torpedoed anther enemy transport.
